   The President of the Federal Supreme Court, Judge Jassim Muhammad Abboud, received on Monday, 8/4/2024, the Italian Ambassador in Baghdad, Mr. Maurizio Cricante, and his accompanying delegation at the headquarters of the Federal Supreme Court in Baghdad.

The President of the Federal Supreme Court welcomed the Italian Ambassador in Baghdad, and during the meeting, they discussed the development of relations between the two friendly countries and the strengthening of joint cooperation in all fields and the need for communication and continuous meetings to exchange legal experiences in the field of constitutional judiciary because of its importance in supporting the democratic process to achieve the rule of law and the constitution, where the Federal Supreme Court in Baghdad opened the horizons of communication with its counterparts in the Arab and international world and to learn about the experiences of countries in this field to support the process Political and democratic in Iraq.

The decisions issued by the Federal Supreme Court regarding the salaries of employees, retirees and all employees of state agencies in the region were discussed, and the President of the Court explained that the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq for the year 2005 established the basic principles of the rights and freedoms of the Iraqi people and the foundations that lead to the exercise of those rights and freedoms by the people, the most important of which are equality based on the provisions of Article (14) thereof, peaceful rotation of power based on the provisions of Article (6) of the Constitution, equal opportunities based on the provisions of Article (16) of and the freedom to establish and join political parties based on The provisions of Article (39) of the Constitution, the President of the Court also explained that the democratic system in Iraq needs to build constitutional institutions and a correct electoral system, including the existence of a fair electoral law and an independent electoral commission, taking into account the provisions of Article (110) of the Constitution regarding the exclusive competencies of the federal authorities and Article (117) of the Constitution regarding the approval of the Constitution of the Republic of Iraq upon its entry into force The Kurdistan region and its existing authorities as a federal region.
